UK invoice template

For sole traders, freelancers and limited companies — with or without VAT, in pounds, ready as a PDF.

What HMRC expects on an invoice

Every invoice needs a unique sequential number, your business name and address, the customer's name and address, a description of what you're charging for, the date of supply, the date of the invoice and the amount due.

If you're VAT registered, a full VAT invoice also shows your VAT registration number, the rate and amount of VAT for each item, and the total VAT in pounds. Limited companies should show their registered company name, number and registered office — add them in Company register details.

Not registered for VAT? Switch VAT status off and no VAT is shown. For construction services under the domestic reverse charge, choose the reverse charge rate and the HMRC wording is added.

Private by design

There is no account and no server behind this invoice generator. Your business details, clients, products and invoices are stored in your browser's own database (IndexedDB) and never uploaded. The PDF is built on your device. That also means nobody else has a copy — download a backup from Settings → Backup now and then, and keep it with your accounting files.

Frequently asked questions

Can I invoice in euros or dollars?

Yes, choose any currency per invoice. If you are VAT registered, HMRC requires the VAT amount in pounds on the invoice as well.

What is a simplified VAT invoice?

For retail sales up to £250 including VAT you may issue a simplified invoice. This tool produces full VAT invoices, which are valid in every case.
